FJW Construction was selected to build the Varsity Grill & Sports Bar at DFW Airport's Terminal E.
The fast-tracked project consisted of 3,900 SF interior finish out of a unique concept in sports theme dining, carrying out the theme using ceramic tile in patterns to create the appearance of a football field, baseball field, ice hockey rink, tennis court, basketball court and lanes used for competitive swimming.
Vinyl murals were applied to the walls to create the illusion of spectator seating in each sports venue. The use of "hometown" collegiate and professional sports team logos, mascots and uniforms makes each restaurant special to its location. This new prototype for the chain, which includes the new Express Dining Counter, was the first in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
FJW coordinated all aspects of the construction fit-out including the delivery, receipt, installation and connection of the owner-furnished equipment and fixtures. The project was fast-tracked to meet the opening of the Skylink high-speed train station terminal. The work was performed in a high security area, requiring coordination with TSA and airport security service for both terminal and airside access.
