Horner Ballpark at Dallas Baptist University hosts the NCAA Dallas Regional
Jun 30, 2015

Dallas Baptist University recently hosted the NCAA Dallas Regional after the Patriot baseball team was selected as one of the top 16 teams in the nation.  Following a 43-13 season, DBU was awarded hosting duties by the NCAA selection committee for the first time in school history.  DBU played tournament host to the University of Texas, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Oregon State University.

The event allowed DBU to showcase recently completed Horner Ballpark to both attendees and fans tuning into the games on the ESPN networks.  The stadium was built to address the school's need to upgrade facilities to host such postseason play.  Completed in a single off-season before the 2013 home opener, the 2,000 seat stadium was built by FJW Construction.

After historical rainfall in the days leading up to the tournament, a herculean effort was made by DBU staff to ensure the field would be ready for play.  The Patriots capped a successful season by going 3-2 in the tournament before falling in the championship game to Virginia Commonwealth.
