Dean Learning Center Groundbreaking
Jun 28, 2014

On June 28th, FJW Construction was honored to be a part of the Dallas Baptist University's groundbreaking and dedication of the new Dean Learning Center.  FJW is serving as theconstruction manager for the University's new 3-story, 16,000-square-foot building.

The design of the Dean Learning Center is based on Harvard Hall in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which is consistent with DBU's Classical Georgian architectural vision. Among the many benefits of the Dean Learning Center will be the opportunity to unify the University's paramount student-service efforts in one central location and serve as the future home to the Dr. William B. Dean Service-Learning Program, Department of Online Education, College of Professional Studies, Career Development Center, Student Government Association, Office of Student Life, and the Office of Student Success.

Dr. Dean was a well-known and much-loved pediatrician whose practice, while based in Oak Cliff, served children and their families from all across the DFW Metroplex. He was a highly regarded pioneer in polio research, treatment and prevention, and in the fields of dyslexia and learning disabilities. He created the Dean Learning Center with a focus on learning disabilities, and established state-of-the-art and cutting-edge programs including teacher training, diagnostic evaluations, and education by establishing a school from kindergarten through the 8th grade.

FJW has been a part of multiple projects on the DBU campus such as the Horner Ballpark, Herman and Patsy Smith Center, and the Joan and Andy Horner Music Hall.
