Mar 16, 2012

AUSTIN, TX, March 16, 2012 – FJW President David Bowlin was among the judges in the selection committee for Engineering News-Record’s Best of the Best Projects 2011 Awards. This is a national recognition of design and construction excellence based on ENR’s regional winners for best projects. The independent jury of design and construction professionals selected 18 winners out of 119 regional winners. The building projects were marked on aesthetic/functional quality of craftsmanship, innovation, safety, and contribution to the community. Categories ranged from healthcare and higher education to residential and infrastructure. The judges included directors from architectural, engineering, and construction project management firms, as well as a member from academia and a government official.

Mr. Bowlin remarked on the judging, “It was both an honor and a privilege to be a judge for the ‘Best of the Best 2011 Awards.’ The competition among the array of projects was immense, and our panel had to carefully weigh many subjective factors to develop a score. This was my first year on the panel, and it was interesting to observe the debate among the judges as they sought to illuminate the unique salient points others may have overlooked. It was a rewarding professional experience, and one which I hope to have the opportunity to repeat.”
