First Financial Bank - Decatur Branch

First Financial Bank originally selected FJW Construction to build its Midlothian, Texas branch. They were so pleased with our performance that multiple projects were subsequently awarded.

The construction cost of the Decatur branch was considerably more than the owner had expected because this was not a greenfield site, but required the removal of concrete slabs, grade beams and paving from previous structures. It also had significantly more rock than was expected. In order to maintain their budget, the owner asked FJW to perform value engineering.

The project cost was brought down significantly by changing the 6,750 square foot underground detention holding area from concrete boxes to PVC pipes, and by changing the drive-thru canopy and connector from cast stone and brick to painted stucco and aluminum columns.

The exterior structure of the branch has the signature cast stone columns, sills, and pediment, while the interior continues the signature finishes with the lobby using a gabeled ceiling with large pendant light fixtures and granite flooring leading to the cherry wood and granite teller line. The surrounding conference room and offices have cherry wood and glass entrances facing the lobby with carpet.

FJW completed the construction, met the cost challenges and delivered the facility to a satisfied customer.
