Texas Woman’s University is the largest public university for women in the United States with over 10,000 women enrolled in its undergraduate and graduate schools.
FJW Construction was selected by Texas Woman’s University to renovate the Kitty Winter Magee Arena, the home facility for the TWU basketball, gymnastics, and volleyball teams. Magee Arena is utilized on a regular basis by the TWU Department of Kinesiology, as well as intramural and recreational sports, state and regional gymnastics meets, summer camps, and the bi-annual TWU Commencement services.
The project consisted of removing and replacing the wood floor and replacing the bleacher’s Motor Operation System. This multipurpose gymnasium, which is located on the ground level of the three-story Pioneer Hall, encountered some problems during this renovation. Simultaneous roof repairs being performed by another contractor caused leaks onto the floor as it was being installed. The FJW team acted quickly to minimize the damage and worked on weekends and holidays to ensure the project was completed on time.
